Pete Wild vows to support Neo Eccleston through 'a really tough moment'

"We've got to try to work with him to make sure the tackles he makes and the decisions he makes are getting better. Ultimately, we pay his wages, so we've got to try and help him."

Hartlepool United head coach Pete Wild has vowed to support Neo Eccleston through a "really tough moment".

The young defender is currently serving a suspension having been sent off during Saturday's comeback win over Hornchurch, his third red card in just seven appearances.

Already on a yellow card, the 23-year-old steamed into a late challenge on former Pools centre-half Jack Baldwin, leaving referee Leigh Doughty with little choice but to give him his marching orders.

Although Pools recovered from a goal and a man down thanks to late strikes from Will Harris and Luke Charman, his first of the season, Wild's side are now having to cope without Eccleston during a testing run of fixtures.
