Jamie Miley hails his 'great connection' with fellow midfielders Nathan Sheron and Cole Deeming

"The three of us have got a really great understanding in there and it feels like a nice balance at the moment."

Hartlepool United's Jamie Miley has hailed his "great connection" with fellow midfielders Nathan Sheron and Cole Deeming.

In a bid to make Pools tougher to play through and more difficult to break down, new head coach Pete Wild has favoured a three in midfield since replacing Lee Clark at the beginning of last month.

Having set up in a 3-5-2 formation against Hornchurch and AFC Fylde, Wild switched to a 4-5-1 at the weekend as Pools made the long trip to Hertfordshire to take on unbeaten National League leaders Boreham Wood.

Whichever shape he favours, Wild seems to have settled on a midfield trio of Miley, Sheron and Deeming, with club captain Jack Hunter finding himself down the pecking order since Clark's dramatic resignation in September.
