Jamie Miley admits he doesn't think he'll ever score a better goal following Boreham Wood wonder-strike

"The ball just dropped to me and I saw him off his line. I mean, he wasn't off his line by much but I just thought, I'm going to hit it and try my luck. It's probably the best I've ever hit the ball to be honest and it just dropped into the back of the net."

Jamie Miley admits he doesn't think he'll ever score a better goal than the one he managed during Saturday's agonising 4-3 defeat to National League leaders Boreham Wood.

The 22-year-old midfielder produced a moment of sheer magic in Hertfordshire, lobbing goalkeeper Ted Curd, Beckham-esque, almost from the halfway line.

After Pools won the ball back, Miley spotted Curd off his line - in truth, the youngster who, like his opposite number Max Merrick, is on loan from Chelsea, hardly seemed to have ventured from his goal - before picking his spot and lofting an inch-perfect effort into the back of the net. It's hard to imagine many better goals being scored all season.
