Lee Clark announced his resignation from his role as Hartlepool United manager on Saturday following a dismal run of six defeats in seven National League games.

With pressure already approaching boiling point, a below-par Pools were beaten 3-1 by newly-promoted Worthing at Victoria Park, with considerable sections of the fanbase calling for change in the dugout.

Those supporters calling for Clark's head didn't have to wait long, with the 53-year-old storming straight down the tunnel without acknowledging the fans before announcing his resignation in sudden, unexpected and, to be frank, bizarre fashion to the press.
