Goalkeeper: Max Merrick
No debate about this one. The youngster kept a clean sheet on his competitive debut against Barrow last week and impressed with his composure, positional play and handling of crosses. Has survived one or two nervous moments but that is to be expected for someone of his age and with his relative lack of senior experience. His main competition for the number one spot in-between the sticks, Nathan Fisher, conceded 10 during Tuesday's humiliating National League Cup mauling at the hands of Middlesbrough's under-21s.
Right-back: Neo Eccleston
The former Huddersfield Town man was very unfortunate to have been left out ahead of Saturday's season opener against Barrow, albeit he faces stiff competition from Jay Benn. Indeed, it was Benn was started at full-back against the Bluebirds but the 24-year-old was forced off after 49 minutes clutching his lower back. Although Lee Clark revealed that Benn had trained all week, Eccleston's impressive cameo from the bench last time out as well as a string of excellent showings in pre-season might be enough to displace his rival in Hampshire.
