Reiss McNally determined to get Hartlepool United fans back on side following dismal start to new season

"I know - I hope - that everyone is giving their all out there because we want this place to be bouncing. It's better for us, it's better for the fans and it's a much happier place if we can get them on side."

Vice-captain Reiss McNally is determined to get Hartlepool United fans back on side following a bitterly disappointing start to the new season.

Even the most pessimistic of supporters would surely have struggled to imagine their side enduring quite such a difficult start to a campaign which seemed to promise so much but, so far at least, has delivered precious little.

After all, Pools were talked up as possible National League title contenders ahead of the new season following an almost complete overhaul of their squad during the summer, welcoming a raft of new additions including the likes of Will Harris, who scored 25 goals in 46 games for Halifax Town last term, as well as Jack Nolan, fresh from an outstanding individual campaign with Morecambe.
