Pete Wild 'so pleased' after 10-man Hartlepool United come from behind to beat Hornchurch in 'rollercoaster' encounter

"I've just said to the players in there, 'if you work hard all week, that's what you get. If you don't work hard all week, you don't'. They can sign that week off with flying colours because of how they've gone about their business."

Head coach Pete Wild was "so pleased" after 10-man Hartlepool United came from a goal down to beat Hornchurch in a "rollercoaster" encounter.

Having been so, so poor during last week's ignominious FA Cup exit at the hands of National League North side Marine, Wild read the riot act and Pools responded with a performance that was full of the grit, determination and energy that has been sorely lacking in recent weeks.

While it begs the question as to why a Pools side capable of such resolve have been so lacklustre of late, Saturday's battling display was a sign that Wild is beginning to make progress at Victoria Park.
