Pete Wild 'so pleased' following first win as Hartlepool United head coach

"What I want to start with is that I'm so pleased for the fans, I'm so pleased for the players and the staff. The belief that we had today has been lacking, I think we'd all agree with that."

Hartlepool United head coach Pete Wild revealed he was "so pleased" following his first win in charge of Pools on Saturday.

Having been narrowly beaten by strugglers Tamworth during his first game in charge, Wild celebrated a much-needed victory as Pools beat managerless Forest Green Rovers 4-2 at the weekend.

Fans will be hoping that their side's impressive victory in Gloucestershire proves to be a turning point in what's been a miserable campaign so far, with Pools ending a dismal run of six National League defeats in a row at The New Lawn.

Having been touted as possible title contenders ahead of the new season, Pools won both of their opening two games without conceding before a run of nine defeats in 10 games saw them slide down the table and into the relegation zone.
