Pete Wild 'really pleased' after Hartlepool United conclude National League Cup campaign with win over Leeds United

"I thought they approached the game properly. I said to the players, 'a few of you have got a big evening ahead because I haven't seen much of you and you need to show me what you've got'."

Head coach Pete Wild admitted he was "really pleased" with his Hartlepool United side after Pools concluded their underwhelming National League Cup campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over Leeds United.

While a brace from Terry Bondo, his first goals for the club, as well as a 28th minute strike from Chris Popov, who ended a run of nine appearances without scoring, helped Pools secure a first win in the National League Cup, it wasn't enough to prevent them from finishing bottom of Group C.

Nonetheless, there were a handful of positives for Wild to take, with several senior players getting some much-needed minutes into their legs while a number of youngsters were also given the chance to show what they are capable of.
