Pete Wild feels he has "a real, clear picture of the immediate stuff that needs addressing" since his appointment as Hartlepool United's new head coach.

The 42-year-old became the ninth man to take permanent charge of Pools since the club were relegated back to the National League in 2023 when he was named as Lee Clark's successor at the beginning of the month.

While the most immediate and pressing concern has to be lifting Pools clear of trouble at the wrong end of the National League table, Wild will be hoping to salvage a season that seemed to promise so much but, so far at least, has delivered precious little.
