Pete Wild calls for Hartlepool United to be 'more realistic' following dismal start to new season

Head coach Pete Wild feels Hartlepool United need to be "more realistic" following their difficult start to the new season.

Having been touted as possible National League title contenders ahead of the campaign, Pools are only outside the bottom four on goal difference following a torrid run of results and performances.

After assembling an almost completely new squad over the summer, welcoming 15 signings including several high profile additions, Pools headed into the new season surrounded by almost unparalleled levels of optimism, confidence and expectation.

Following several turbulent years towards the end of controversial former owner Raj Singh's tumultuous tenure, supporters had hoped that American businessman Landon Smith's takeover would usher in a new era of stability and success.
