Pete Wild admits Hartlepool United have 'a lot to do' as Pools look to make progress on and off the pitch

"Squad-wise, there's a lot of things to do to get us a real, solid base. I don't think there's a solid base at the moment for us to really push forward as a football club, to get where we need to be and back up the statements that were made before I got through the door."

Head coach Pete Wild admits Hartlepool United have "a lot to do" as Pools look to make progress on and off the pitch.

Wild, who became the club's eight permanent appointment since Pools were relegated back to the National League in April 2023 when he succeeded Lee Clark earlier this month, has been tasked with salvaging a season that seemed to promise so much but, so far at least, has delivered precious little.

Having welcomed a whole host of signings under new owner Landon Smith over the summer, Pools were touted as potential title contenders ahead of the campaign.

After winning each of their first two matches without conceding, getting the better of relegated Barrow on the opening day before edging past Aldershot Town, a dismal run of nine defeats in 10 games saw Pools plummet down the table and into the relegation zone.
