Hartlepool United have completed the signing of experienced defender Max Clark.

The 30-year-old, who can operate at full-back or in midfield, becomes new head coach Pete Wild's second signing following the arrival of Jack Earing, who joined on a short-term loan from fellow National League side Barrow earlier in the week.

Clark, who boasts plenty of experience and an impressive CV, arrives on a deal until January having left Gillingham at the end of last season.

The versatile defender came through the ranks at Hull City and would go on to make 30 appearances for the Tigers, twice spending time out on loan at Cambridge United while in East Yorkshire.
