Like so many of the Hartlepool United squad, midfielder Nathan Sheron is hoping that the appointment of Pete Wild as the club's new head coach will bring about a turnaround in fortunes following a bitterly disappointing start to the season. Picture by Adam Cook/The Corner Photography.

Nathan Sheron insists there's more to come from Hartlepool United

"At the end of the day, we're still, what, 19th or 20th in the league - that's no position for us, we shouldn't be down there."

Midfielder Nathan Sheron insists there is more to come from Hartlepool United.

The 29-year-old marked his 100th appearance with a brace on Saturday as Pools ended a run of six successive defeats by beating Forest Green Rovers 4-2.

Having put Pools 2-0 ahead three minutes into the second half, Sheron wrapped up the points with a superb strike late on, latching onto a loose ball before driving forward and lashing a venomous effort into the top corner from distance.

Saturday's much-needed win over managerless - and, to be frank, somewhat rudderless - Forest Green helped haul Pools out of the National League relegation zone and Sheron and his teammates will now be looking to kick on under new head coach Pete Wild.
