Hartlepool United head coach Lee Clark has hailed young goalkeeper Max Merrick as "a class above" following his fine start to life at Victoria Park.
The 20-year-old completed a season-long loan move from Premier League heavyweights Chelsea last month and has made an excellent beginning to his Pools career, keeping back-to-back clean sheets.
Having made a handful of eye-catching saves during the final two pre-season matches against Grimsby Town and Fleetwood Town, Merrick's confidence, command of his area and conviction when coming for crosses have stood out during wins over Barrow and Aldershot Town.
