Owner Landon Smith has penned an open letter to Hartlepool United fans discussing the club's disappointing start to the season, the appointment of Pete Wild as well as plans for a new board.

Pools supporters hadn't heard personally from the American businessman and investor, who completed his takeover of the club from the hugely controversial Raj Singh on New Year's Eve 2025, since the summer, when he drew widespread praise for a series of open letters communicating with fans.

When Smith, who is the co-founder of real estate company Tailwind Group and is still based in the States, last wrote to supporters the club was gearing up for a season in which they were expected to challenge for the National League title.
