Hartlepool United's honorary president Jeff Stelling has revealed he "can't remember" ever being as excited for a new season to begin as he is for the 2026/27 campaign.
Meanwhile, the legendary sports broadcaster, best known for his 29 years as the host of the hugely successful Gillette Soccer Saturday, hailed the club's efforts at Fanatics Fest as "brilliant".
It's hard to avoid the sense that Pools are making significant progress on and off the pitch and it's difficult to remember quite the same level of optimism, confidence and expectation amongst the fanbase heading into the new season.
