Hartlepool United's head of recruitment Chris Beech has been discussing links to Halifax Town striker Will Harris.
Pools are one of a whole host of clubs believed to be pursuing a deal for the prolific 25-year-old, who scored 25 goals in 46 games for the Shaymen last season.
Lee Clark's side are on the hunt for a new number nine following the departure of Alex Reid, who was released in May having scored 12 times in 41 appearances last season and has since signed for Barrow.
Although Pools have already sealed a return for veteran Jordan Hugill, who enjoyed a memorable spell on loan in the North East more than a decade ago, the 34-year-old frontman has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and is not expected to be a regular starter next term.
