Hartlepool United are set to begin their 2026/27 National League campaign at home to Barrow on Saturday, August 8.
Having started each of the last two seasons with a long trip to Somerset to take on Yeovil Town, Pools fans will doubtless be delighted to see their team kick-off the campaign at Victoria Park.
Lee Clark's side will nonetheless face a stern examination on the opening day against a Barrow team who were relegated from League Two last term and will surely be hoping to bounce straight back this season.
The season opener will represent an instant reunion with striker Alex Reid, who was released by Pools at the end of the 2025/26 campaign having scored 12 times in 41 matches and has since signed for the Bluebirds.
