Hartlepool United legend Brian Honour hails Alan Murray as 'a good football manager and a great man'

Murray, who was Pools manager between 1991 and 1993, died last month aged 76 and has been mourned throughout the footballing world.

Following a playing career for the likes of Middlesbrough, York City, Brentford and Doncaster Rovers, where he made almost 150 appearances, Murray joined Pools as the club's chief executive.

In 1991, however, he took over as manager after the legendary Cyril Knowles was diagnosed with a brain tumour, with a remarkable winning run helping Pools to a third placed finish and promotion from Division Four.
