Club legend Brian Honour has paid a touching tribute to former Pools manager Alan Murray, who died last month aged 76.

"He was a good football manager and a great man. That's what made him so special and helped us go from mid-table to getting promoted, I think we went on a 14-game unbeaten run."

Hartlepool United legend Brian Honour has hailed Alan Murray as "a good football manager and a great man."

Murray, who was Pools manager between 1991 and 1993, died last month aged 76 and has been mourned throughout the footballing world.

Following a playing career for the likes of Middlesbrough, York City, Brentford and Doncaster Rovers, where he made almost 150 appearances, Murray joined Pools as the club's chief executive.
