Hartlepool United goalkeeper hails 'real feeling of optimism' after penning new deal

Hartlepool United player-coach Adam Smith has hailed "a real feeling of optimism" after committing his future to Pools for another season.
The veteran goalkeeper, who has made 33 appearances at Victoria Park since signing for the club in the summer of 2024, penned a new one-year contract that will see him remain with Pools both as part of the playing squad and coaching staff.
The 33-year-old, who won promotion to the Football League with Cambridge in 2014 and was part of the Northampton side who were crowned League Two champions in 2016, joined Pools following a successful trial period ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
