Hartlepool United are closing in on a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Charlie Penman, according to reports.
According to Pete O'Rourke, Pools are set to sign the 20-year-old on a free transfer.
The young defender signed for Brighton from Blackpool in 2021 and, although he has never made a senior appearance in East Sussex, Penman established himself as an important part of the Seagulls' under-21s side, featuring in their Premier League 2, EFL Trophy and National League Cup campaigns. During his time on the South coast, Penman spent time training with Brighton's first team and was even named in The Guardian's list of 20 best Premier League talents in 2022.
