Hartlepool United and the wider footballing community are mourning the passing of Alan Murray after the former Pools boss died aged 76.
Pools took to social media to offer their "heartfelt condolences" on Sunday afternoon following the tragic news.
Murray, who was born in Newcastle and would go on to make almost 150 appearances for Doncaster, took charge of Pools between 1991 and 1993, winning 36 of his 90 matches at the helm.
Murray, who had been working as the chief executive at Victoria Park, replaced Cyril Knowles, who was battling against a brain tumour, and would go on to lead Pools to a memorable promotion from Division Four during his time in charge in the North East. He was also at the helm when Pools pulled off an FA Cup shock in January 1993, getting the better of Crystal Palace 1-0 thanks to an Andy Saville penalty.
