Former Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor has been reflecting on an "absolutely amazing" spell at Victoria Park.

The 50-year-old is widely regarded as one of the club's greatest ever managers having led Pools back to the Football League via a heart-stopping National League play-off final in 2021.

Challinor was appointed Pools boss in November 2019 following successful spells with Colwyn Bay and AFC Fylde, leading the Coasters from the Northern Premier League Division One North to the National League.

In his first full season at the helm in the North East, Challinor steered Pools to the National League play-offs thanks to a fourth placed finish before wins over Bromley and Stockport County set up a final against Torquay United at Bristol City's Ashton Gate.
