Former Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor has his say on relationship with Raj Singh

"I was really prepared to stay at the football club, my kids were coming up to Durham for university. That was the point when I would have sold up my base where I was, moved to the North East and committed my future to the club for a long time."

Former Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor has been reflecting on his relationship with the hugely controversial Raj Singh.

Challinor, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in the club's entire history, took charge of Pools in 2019 before leading them to a memorable promotion from the National League via a heart-stopping play-off final in 2021.

Having finished fourth in the regular season, Pools beat Bromley and Stockport County in the play-offs to set up a clash with Torquay United at Bristol City's Ashton Gate for a place in the Football League.

Pools took the lead 10 minutes before half time thanks to a well-taken effort from Luke Armstrong but were pegged back in agonising fashion by a 96th minute equaliser from goalkeeper Lucas Covolan.
