Dave Challinor keen on swift return to management but former Hartlepool United boss waiting for 'big opportunity'

"Regardless, not having Championship experience means you can be seen as a risk. You only get that experience by somebody taking that risk on you and I think I'd be a risk worth taking, a good risk based on what we've done previously."

Former Hartlepool United boss Dave Challinor is keen to get straight back into management after leaving Stockport County at the beginning of June.

However, Challinor, who has enjoyed considerable success throughout his managerial career, insists he won't rush into a new role and is instead waiting for "a big opportunity".

The 50-year-old is unlikely to be short of suitors. Having led Colwyn Bay from the Northern Premier League Premier Division to the Conference North, Challinor won three promotions as well as the FA Trophy during an impressive eight-year spell with AFC Fylde.

After leaving the Coasters in 2019, Challinor helped Hartlepool United win promotion back to the Football League via a heart-stopping National League play-off final in 2021 before leaving to take the reins at Stockport.
