New Hartlepool United signing Cole Deeming revealed he is determined "to fight for promotion" after signing on loan from West Bromwich Albion until January.

The attack-minded midfielder signed for Pools on Friday and made his debut at the weekend, coming on as a 70th minute substitute during the much-needed win over Woking.

Having made 14 signings over the summer, Pools found themselves a bit light in midfield in the opening weeks of the new campaign, prompting fans to speculate that the club could be in the market for some more creative spark in the engine room.

However, head coach Lee Clark initially rebuffed suggestions that Pools were on the lookout for another midfielder, telling The Red Radio that the club had "no more money" to spend on new signings following the disappointing defeat to Halifax Town earlier this month.
