Hartlepool United striker Chris Popov revealed he was "delighted" to have scored his first Pools goal during Saturday's 1-0 win over Woking.

While by the frontman's own admission it might not have been the finest goal he'll ever score, it was certainly an important one as Lee Clark's side ended a dismal run of three successive defeats thanks to a battling victory over the out of sorts Cardinals.

After Liam Gibson picked out Brooklyn Ilunga with an incisive forward ball, Popov darted across the defence and found himself in the right place at the right time to, somewhat fortuitously, bundle the ball beyond Will Jaaskelainen and open his account at Victoria Park.
