Chris Popov admits he's 'absolutely loved' Hartlepool United spell so far

"Since the first day of pre-season, the lads have been really welcoming and we've got on really well. I think it shows on the pitch sometimes, we're really together, we've got a good fighting spirit."

Hartlepool United striker Chris Popov admits he's "absolutely loved" his time at Victoria Park so far.

The frontman, who was one of 14 summer signings, scored his first Pools goal during Saturday's much-needed 1-0 win over Woking.

While by his own admission it might not have been the best goal he'll ever score, it was certainly an important one as Pools ended a dismal run of three successive defeats.

Having been restored to head coach Lee Clark's starting XI, the 21-year-old darted across the front of the Cardinals defence before bundling Brooklyn Ilunga's cross beyond the despairing Will Jaaskelainen after 57 minutes.
