Pete Wild 'absolutely raging' following Hartlepool United's ignominious FA Cup exit at the hands of Marine

"That's the story of the football match, the longer it's 0-0, the more susceptible you are to getting hit with one at the other end. That's what's happened to us again today."

Head coach Pete Wild admitted he was "absolutely raging" following Hartlepool United's humbling FA Cup defeat at home to National League North side Marine.

A lacklustre - and, in truth, that's being generous - Pools side were ignominiously dumped out of England's oldest and most historic cup competition at the fourth qualifying round stage for the fourth year in a row by a Marine team who simply wanted it more than their hosts.

Indeed, for all Wild's talk in the week about his respect and reverence for the competition, Pools were slow, sluggish and short of ideas on another disappointing afternoon at Victoria Park.
