Hartlepool United were condemned to another humbling FA Cup exit as Pools were beaten 2-0 by National League North side Marine on Saturday.

Pete Wild's side, who have now failed to reach the first round proper for the fourth year in a row, were dumped out of the cup by second half goals from Jack Doyle and James Potter.

For all Wild's talk about his determination to treat England's oldest and most historic competition with respect and reverence, Pools were outfought by a Mariners side who simply wanted it more.

The hosts had no answer after going behind to Doyle's 71st minute strike and could have few complaints when the plucky visitors added a second through substitute Potter six minutes later.
