Hartlepool United have made four changes for Saturday's visit of newly-promoted Hornchurch, with first-choice goalkeeper Max Merrick making a welcome return to the starting XI.

The Chelsea loanee is set to make his first start since September 5 after an injury derailed his impressive beginning to life at Victoria Park.

Merrick replaces Max Thompson, who misses out altogether through illness, in-between the sticks. Nathan Fisher continues on the bench.

Elsewhere, Pete Wild's side look set to switch to a back three as Pools attempt to put the ignominy of last week's FA Cup defeat at the hands of National League North side Marine behind them.
