A second half header from substitute Corey McKeown helped Hartlepool United maintain their 100 per cent start to the new National League season, beating Aldershot Town 1-0 on Saturday.
The diminutive 24-year-old headed home the winner on his debut 10 minutes after his introduction from the bench, taking advantage of some statuesque Shots defending to make it two wins from two for Pools.
While it was by no means a vintage Pools performance and Aldershot's Marcus Dinanga, who failed to score in 15 matches during a loan spell at Victoria Park in the 2018/19 season, blazed an 87th minute penalty over Max Merrick's crossbar, Lee Clark's side showed plenty of fight, spirit and determination underneath the blazing Hampshire sun.
