Why Pete Wild is the tactical architect Hartlepool United desperately needed

After a chaotic start to the season, Lee Clark’s resignation meant he became the 11th consecutive manager that has failed to last over a year at Pools, and it left the Monkey Hangers with yet another search for a new candidate for the dugout.

Following a brief period under the management of Gary Liddle and Adam Clayton, the appointment of Wild is one that Poolies have been anticipating for years.

Wild has been repeatedly linked with the Pools job for up to nearly five years. He was first linked with the role after Dave Challinor’s exit in 2021, and since then Wild has managed Barrow AFC, Fleetwood Town and Tranmere Rovers, and has been without a job since May of this year.
