Nathan Sheron determined to help inspire Hartlepool United to success ahead of new season

The 28-year-old, who is closing in on 100 appearances at Victoria Park, looks set to play an important role in new head coach Lee Clark's attack-minded 4-4-2 formation as Pools attempt to challenge for promotion back to the Football League next term.

With most teams tending to favour lining up with three in midfield, Pools will likely need Sheron's energy, industry and determination to help them remain competitive in the engine room.

That said, the former Fleetwood Town, Harrogate Town and Oldham Athletic man, who has also proved himself more than capable of filling in at full-back when required, could face stiff competition for a place in Clark's starting XI from youngster Jamie Miley and Jack Hunter, who The Monkey's Uncle understands is set to be named as the club's captain ahead of the new campaign.
