Nathan Fisher vows to 'take this opportunity with both hands' after becoming Hartlepool United's 14th summer signing

"I'm from the North East, so I know exactly the size of this football club and how much it means to the supporters. You can see the ambition around the club as soon as you walk through the door and that's something that really stood out to me."

New Hartlepool United goalkeeper Nathan Fisher has vowed to "take this opportunity with both hands" after becoming the club's 14th summer signing.

The young stopper became the club's second new recruit in the goalkeeping department in the space of 48 hours after Max Merrick joined on a season-long loan from Premier League heavyweights Chelsea.

Pools, who used four different goalkeepers last season, had been looking to strengthen in-between the sticks all summer following the decision to release Nick Hayes after a decidedly uncertain spell in the North East in May.

Lee Clark's side had appeared to be closing in on a deal for Wales under-21 international Kit Margetson, only for a knee injury, which The Monkey's Uncle understands is set to keep him out until at least October, to scupper the deal.
