Hartlepool United head coach Lee Clark admits Pools are keeping their "fingers crossed" that an injury to Luke Charman isn't too serious.
The popular attacker limped off late on in Saturday's 3-0 pre-season friendly defeat to Grimsby Town following a challenge with goalkeeper Christy Pym.
At the time, the 28-year-old looked in considerable discomfort although Clark is still holding out hope that it might have been a contact injury as opposed to something more sinister.
Certainly, Pools will be hoping to have Charman fit and available for the first game of their new National League campaign in less than a fortnight's time, with Clark's side set to entertain relegated Barrow on August 8.
