Hartlepool United head coach Lee Clark has hailed Max Merrick's "outstanding potential" after the young goalkeeper sealed a season-long loan move from Chelsea on Saturday.
The 20-year-old was one of two new arrivals in the goalkeeping department over the weekend along with former Sunderland and Middlesbrough man Nathan Fisher, who had spent time on trial at the club over the summer and is expected to begin the campaign as second choice.
Pools, who used four different goalkeepers last season, had been on the hunt for a new number one in-between the sticks all summer following the decision to release Nick Hayes after a decidedly uncertain spell at Victoria Park in May.
