Lee Clark 'delighted' with Hartlepool United's pre-season preparations so far

Pools suffered their first defeat of the summer on Saturday, going down 3-0 at home to League Two side Grimsby Town.

Despite that, Clark felt there were "lots of positives" from his side's battling performance against a well-oiled Mariners outfit who finished in the League Two play-offs last term.

While Grimsby's clinicality and ruthlessness made the difference, there wasn't too much to split the teams for large parts of an engaging contest and Pools created plenty of chances of their own.
