Jeff Stelling believes Chris Beech 'the logical choice' to take interim charge of Hartlepool United

Pools are on the hunt for a new permanent head coach following Lee Clark's dramatic resignation on Saturday after his side were condemned to a sixth defeat in seven National League games at home to Worthing.

Before that, Pools are likely to have to appoint a caretaker boss as owner Landon Smith and de facto director of football Chris Maxwell take time to weigh up their options.

Pools, who are languishing just a point above the National League relegation zone, travel to Scunthorpe United on Saturday before a testing run of fixtures that will see them take on three teams in the top seven, including league leaders Boreham Wood, before the end of next month.
