Hartlepool United expert Rob Law has revealed that Pools are "serious contenders" to sign Halifax Town striker Will Harris this summer.

The frontman is understood to be one of the most sought after attackers in the National League, with a host of Football League teams also believed to be interested, having enjoyed a prolific campaign with the Shaymen last term, scoring 25 goals in 46 games.

Although Pools have already signed veteran striker Jordan Hugill, who found the net four times in eight matches during a loan spell in the North East in 2015, the sense is that Lee Clark's side are on the lookout for at least one more natural number nine, with Harris understood to be right at the top of their wish list.

Harris, who was born in South Shields, actually spent time on trial at Pools in the summer of 2022 and has gone on to represent the likes of Barrow, Gateshead, Spennymoor and Scunthorpe.
