Hartlepool United confirm appointment of Pete Wild as club's new head coach

"Hartlepool United are a sleeping giant, and they should not be in the National League."

Hartlepool United have confirmed the appointment of Pete Wild as the club's new head coach.

Wild, who has been linked with the Pools job on several occasions previously and is even understood to have been offered the role under controversial former owner Raj Singh, will take charge alongside Dave Conlon, who joins as assistant head coach.

Pools had been on the hunt for a new head coach since Lee Clark's dramatic resignation last month after just nine games at the helm.

Clark, who was only appointed in May, led Pools to back-to-back victories at the beginning of the new campaign but announced his decision to step down following a dismal run of six defeats in seven matches.
