Hartlepool United have confirmed that Gary Liddle and Adam Clayton will take charge of the team ahead of Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe United following head coach Lee Clark's dramatic resignation at the weekend.
Clark, who was only appointed in May, stepped down from his role in the immediate wake of Saturday's 3-1 loss at home to newly-promoted Worthing, his side's sixth defeat in their last seven National League matches.
While the club insists that the search for Clark's permanent successor has already begun, first team coach Liddle, who made 364 appearances at Victoria Park across three separate spells and was an integral part of the side that won promotion back to the Football League in 2021, and assistant head coach Clayon, who played in the Premier League with Middlesbrough, are set to take charge ahead of the trip to North Lincolnshire.
