Brian Honour hoping Hartlepool United are 'on the way up' under Landon Smith

Honour, who made almost 400 appearances at Victoria Park and was part of the side that won a memorable promotion in 1990/91, knows what it takes to succeed in the North East.

As a player, the 63-year-old was a hugely popular figure with Pools fans thanks to his hard work, effort and unflinching commitment while he has spent time as both a caretaker manager and coach since hanging up his boots.

This season, Honour is set to represent the club as their matchday ambassador, one of a number of appointments made since Smith's takeover as the American businessman and investor looks to re-engage with fans who became disaffected and disillusioned during the turbulent final years of controversial former owner Raj Singh's tumultuous tenure.
